This is now a better extra camber version of the now discontinued Yes Big City and will appeal to a wide variety of riders looking for a one board solution. If you are all about lapping the pipe then the Jones Mountain Twin will do a good job for most riders out there. It is ahead of disrupted sidecuts like from Arbor and Jones or mellow mag from Lib-Tech/Gnu. There is little to no chatter when you pick up speed either. Still the ride of the board feels a little more aggressive than its flex. Days: 4 It makes the YES Standard one of the better all mountain boards out there for powder. Its a shade less forgiving than the older model but still a great time. Its also pretty strong if you want to center it up for switch powder riding so its a pretty versatile powder ride. The lower volume nose allows the tail to sink a little better and combined with those slam back inserts the board transforms from a directional twin to a board that feels more like a directional freeride board when you get into the deep stuff. It can also stop in the pipe and jump park no problem as well as hit some mellow jibs. The first day I rode it with the gang for a few runs at the demos but then kept it for a little over a week. Days: 4 And the basic/typo would be more playful and looser than the mountain twin? The turning is like butter, the speed isnt like the capita and about the same as the Process if not a little faster. Jibbing: You can jib with the Standard but if thats your thing go with the Jackpot. 159: 11-12 So if you want speed, go with the Frontier, and if you want to tear up a terrain park, get yourself a Mountain Twin. The 2017 Yes Standardhas much more of an all mountain/all conditions appeal to it this year and is now a lot like what the 2016 Yes Optimistic use to be. You can really lay it out. Speed: The nose and tail of the YES Standard can clown shoe a bit but overall its got pretty good mountain speed. On Snow Feel: Feels like the wide version of the Standard I use to own. The YES Standard does this better than most all-mountain boards because of this setback and the reduced volume in the tail. Carving: Really fun to carve. When it comes to carving its really good for a board that looks like its almost a continuous rocker board. It holds through a carve rather well though. Even I dont have issues on mellow features. It does have a unique reverse flex pattern meaning stiffer tips and softer between the feet. This season I am going to try the Yes Pick Your Line. Days: 3 but more to come. After a huge amount of time pouring over different brands and designs I settled on the Jones. Feels Normal bordering on light. Skidded Turns: Way easier than last year and you can loose a little control and skid your way out. Its also a great board for lapping the kicker line and you can take off or land either way. Its got a very diverse personality that can fit a wide range of riders and it does everything very well. Over that week I rode it a bunch. June 7, 2022 . Im always really confident even in icy conditions. With a competitive price and up-to-date technology, this board is a strong top contender for every all-mountain/freestyle board out there. . It was also very easy to pop off natural terrain. After having ridden park boards, an old Rossi, and a few various brands, I took the plunge and bought the Twin. I absolutely loved it as a first board. The real strong point for us is this base seems to push the Jones Mountain Twin past most on those long flats you can often see at resorts. The 2015 Jones Mountain Twin is very much like the 2014 except it has a lighter more lively core. Pipe: The Yes Standard is a great Pipe board and I cant wait to get more time in this pipe when we get this board for the season. We have had many days on the Jones Mountain Twin in Powder and it does a good job acting like a more directional powder board when you set it back. Jibbing: Not really a jibber but its doable. The stiffness was right between the burton and the capita but it wasn't as stiff as I expected it to be based on the websites 7/10 rating. Jibbing: Not a jib board and I wouldnt like to do anything other than a forgiving easy box. The YES Standard is lacking pop and a satisfying turning experience but is a buttery, forgiving, grippy and good floating ride. With a 20.7 stance width you can set it back 2.25 back from center of the board when using the slam back inserts. The Capita basically has a bump between the bindings to help with edge hold while Yes basically has an indent between the bindings to do the same. The stiffness was right between the burton and the capita but it wasn't as stiff as I expected it to be based on the websites 7/10 rating. I'm really wanting one board . Bindings: Burton Diode, Flux SF, Union Factory, Salomon Defender Turning Experience/Carving: So if you want a more powerful turner the YES Ghost with that extra camber or boards like the Korua Otto or Loaded Algernon will give you a more rewarding turning experience. The board is made from SWS in Dubai instead of GST in Austria. We have tried many more too depending on conditions, riding styles and moods. The Jones Mountain Twins base is pretty fast and the board is pretty damp. For me, this would not be fun to ride on a messy bumpy day. The fact that it is an intermediate/advanced board, this price point is standard, maybe even on the affordable side. It's just okay at pow, and pretty good in the park. Then with a set back of -20mm its kind of a stretch for Jones to call this a twin. I havent ridden the Standard in powder but did with the Yes Optimistic 2015 and it had a really easy float. They widened up the sizing across the board to accommodate size 10+ riders and got rid of the under 10 sizings for the bigger boards. Update 2023: The Jones Mountain Twin hasnt changed since 2021 so this review still stands. The Optimistic 2016 and Standard 2017 have the same directional volume twin shape and same camber profile so I can vouch for the Standard. Show all. Edge Hold: Really strong grip without being grabby. The 2013 Base is one of the fastest bases we came across and if well waxed can glide through almost any extended flat area without issue. (We dont put in the exact weight because with wood cores there is no consistency in a boards weight). Days:50+ Edge Hold: I thought it should have a mellow magnetraction thing that many Yes boards use to have but its not that necessary as I thought it would be. It felt like a little bit of work to make quick edge to edge turns but you are working harder than you would with the older version. On Snow Feel/Ability Level/Skidded Turns: This hybrid camber profile called Camrock has a nice balance between rocker and camber that gives you stability underfoot in all conditions and is very forgiving for those that skid your turns often or just want a more forgiving ride when you get off your game. The stance this year is centered where last year it had a -10mm set back. Approximate Weight: Felt normal and well constructed. It starts out in the smaller sizes (149-153) as a board that is best for size 8-10s.
