SHARED EXPERIMENTAL FACILITIES The design, fabrication, and characterization of nanostructured materials requires specialized and often very expensive equipment. The following experimental facilities are available to and shared by participants in the MRSEC. This synergistic sharing of equipment not only addresses equipment needs that are too large to be met by individual researchers, it also provides an avenue for interdisciplinary collaborations that are at the heart of this MRSEC. These experimental facilities are available for use by members of the JHU research community and other academic institutions. Use can also be extended to qualified research personnel from external profit and nonprofit organizations provided that: all arrangements are consistent with NSF policy and subject to the condition that such use will not interfere with the advancement of JHU research projects, and that comparable services are not available on a commercial basis in the private sector.
